Like other gemstones, tourmaline comes in every color. Yellow, green, pink, red and all other colors can be seen in Tourmaline.
The deep red variety is called Rubelite and is a more affordable option if someone wants a large red gemstone and does not want to pay for a ruby.
The most rare and expensive type of tourmaline is the “Paraiba” type. Paraiba tourmaline are copper bearing which gives them their famous “electric neon” color. They come from one location in the city of Paraiba in Brazil where the stone was first discovered in the early 90’s. Today the mine is empty and there are no new stones coming to the market. This makes their price very strong not only for their extreme rarity but also for their amazing electric blue color.
