Vintage Blue Sapphire Diamond 18K Yellow Gold Cluster Brooch
An oval cluster brooch in 18K yellow gold, set with a dense bouquet of blue sapphire cabochons framed by diamond pavé.
The face measures about 1.2 inches high by 0.75 inches wide. At the center, oval and round blue sapphire cabochons are grouped in a tight floral cluster, each held by individual yellow-gold prongs. The stones total 15.88 carats. Their deep blue color shows the soft sheen and fine silk typical of cabochon sapphire, with lighter flashes across several of the larger ovals.
A sculpted yellow-gold border of curved, ribbed flutes surrounds the cluster. Round diamonds, totaling 0.85 carat, are pavé-set along the upper and lower edges and scattered through the gold ribs, catching light against the polished metal. The piece weighs 13.6 grams overall.
The brooch is designed to sit as a compact evening accent on a lapel, collar, or scarf, with the sapphire cluster as the focal point and the fluted gold and diamond border giving it a finished, dimensional edge.
